A former biology teacher, after a romantic loss, retreats to La Hague, a Norman village battered by the sea. The arrival of Lambert, an outsider, reactivates a mysterious accident at sea and old scores.
Originally published in French as Les Déferlantes, it was awarded the Grand Prix des lectrices de Elle. The Brazilian Portuguese translation is by André Telles.
