«Angelina o el honor de un brigadier» is a play by Enrique Jardiel Poncela, published by Espasa Calpe in paperback together with «Un marido de ida y vuelta».
The volume brings together two works by Jardiel Poncela. «Angelina o el honor de un brigadier» parodies the nineteenth-century realist drama and exemplifies the humour the author called «teatro sin corazón». «Un marido de ida y vuelta», a farce from the author's mature period, mixes humour and poetry within the so-called theatre of the improbable.
Published in 1999. Belongs to the Austral collection, where it bears number 478. Edition by Francisco Javier Díaz de Castro and appendix by Almudena del Olmo Iturriarte. 304 pages.
Of interest to readers of twentieth-century Spanish theatre who appreciate parody and Jardiel Poncela's renovating humour.
Enrique Jardiel Poncela was a Spanish playwright and novelist who wrote mostly humorous works.
