After achieving fame as an international model, Waris Dirie returns to Somalia to reunite with her family, a tribe of nomads, and understands that her roots, her strength and her resilience lie there, above all in her mother. The narrative interweaves that journey with her flight from the country, her career in fashion and her work as a United Nations ambassador against female genital mutilation.
Second instalment of the «Memorias Autobiográficas» series, sequel to «Flor del desierto». Original title: «Desert Dawn».
For readers of memoirs and testimonies about Africa and feminism, interested in the fight against female genital mutilation.

Waris Dirie is a Somali model, author, actress and human rights activist in the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM). From 1997 to 2003, she was a UN special ambassador against FGM.
