«Aita Tettauen» is the historical novel by Benito Pérez Galdós, published by Alianza in paperback (208 pages, in Spanish).
The work is set in the Hispano-Moroccan War of 1859-1860 and turns the city of Tetuán into the centre of the narrative. Galdós alternates the chronicle of the campaign with a fictional plot and places a character inside the square to show the siege from the perspective of its inhabitants, a mosaic of Moors, Jews and renegades.
It is number 36 of the fourth series of the Episodios Nacionales, in the El libro de bolsillo collection.

Benito María de los Dolores Pérez Galdós was a Spanish realist novelist and politician. He was a leading literary figure in 19th-century Spain, and some scholars consider him second only to Miguel de Cervantes in stature as a Spanish novelist.
