Nicholas Patrick Stephen Wiseman was an English Roman Catholic prelate who served as the first Archbishop of Westminster upon the re-establishment of the Roman Catholic hierarchy in England and Wales in 1850. He was made a cardinal in 1850.

Born in Seville, Nicholas Wiseman was a key figure who bridged Spanish and British cultures.

His most famous work, Fabiola, is a classic of historical literature set in the Roman catacombs.
