William Francis Nolan was an American author who was active in the science fiction, fantasy, horror, and crime fiction genres.

William F. Nolan is world-renowned as the creator and coauthor of the science fiction classic Logan's Run.

Throughout his prolific career, he wrote 13 novels and scores of short stories, in addition to editing over two dozen books.

His literary versatility allowed him to explore genres as varied as science fiction, horror, western, and suspense.

The author occasionally used the pseudonym James Hopkins to sign some of his works.

He was a two-time winner of the Edgar Allan Poe Special Award and was named a Living Legend by the International Horror Guild.
