Biography

Sir Albert Raymond Maillard Carr was an English historian specialising in the history of Spain, Latin America, and Sweden. From 1968 to 1987, he was Warden of St Antony's College, Oxford.

Raymond Carr was a prominent British historian whose work became a fundamental reference for understanding the history of Spain.

For nearly two decades, he served as the Warden of St Antony's College at the prestigious University of Oxford.

His book Spain 1808-1939 is widely recognized as one of his most influential contributions to the study of Spanish politics.

In addition to his specialization in Spain, Carr also dedicated much of his academic research to the history of Latin America and Sweden.

Throughout his prolific career as an academic and professor, he published a total of twenty works focused on history and social conditions.
