Alastair Preston Reynolds is a Welsh science fiction author. He specialises in hard science fiction and space opera.

Alastair Reynolds combines his literary mastery with a solid background as a professional astrophysicist.

Before dedicating himself fully to writing, he balanced his scientific career with short story creation for many years.
