«Viento del este, viento del oeste» is the novel by Pearl S. Buck, published by Plaza & Janés in hardback (279 pages, in Spanish).
Set in China, it tells the story of a young woman educated in traditions who sees her world waver upon coming into contact with Western values. Pearl S. Buck, Nobel Prize in Literature, portrays the clash between respect for ancestors and the desire for change in a society in transition.
Work originally published in English as 'East Wind, West Wind' (1930); this Spanish edition, third in the Obras Perennes collection, includes the translation by G. and L. Gosse.
For readers of historical fiction and classic narrative interested in Chinese culture and encounters between tradition and modernity.

Pearl Comfort Sydenstricker Buck was an American writer and humanitarian. She is best known for The Good Earth, the best-selling novel in the United States in 1931 and 1932, which won her the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. In 1938, Buck became the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature "for her rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China" and for her "masterpieces", two memoir-biographies of her missionary parents.
