«Vända hem» is Yaa Gyasi's first novel, published by Norstedts Förlag in 2018 in a Swedish paperback edition.
Two sisters grow up without knowing each other: Effia is given in marriage to the English governor, and Esi waits in a cell to be sold as a slave. The novel follows the descendants of Effia and Esi and portrays the consequences of the slave trade from the eighteenth century to the present, in a story about identity, home, and reconciliation.
The original work, Homegoing, was published in 2016; the Swedish edition is translated by Inger Johansson.
For readers of historical fiction and book clubs interested in the history of Ghana and the slave trade.
