«Una bambina e basta» is Lia Levi's autobiographical account, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Scuola in paperback (224 pages, in Italian).
The work tells how a Jewish girl is hidden in a Catholic convent on the outskirts of Rome during the Second World War to escape deportation. There she is drawn to the Christian world, but her mother intervenes to protect her life and identity. When the war ends, her mother restores her certainty of being simply a girl, beyond the labels of the conflict.
Edition in the Le onde collection, edited by Fabio Mantegazza. The work was originally published in 1994 and was awarded the Elsa Morante Prize.
A suitable read for young audiences and adults interested in the historical memory of the Second World War.
