«The Prince of Poison» is a historical novel by Pamela Kaufman, published by Three Rivers Press in paperback (432 pages, in English).
Alix of Wanthwaite returns home with a child of royal blood and an enraged monarch on her heels. The narrative, set in twelfth-century Europe, blends historical fiction and satire: there are troubadours, nobles, assassins, suitors and popes, and Richard the Lionheart and Eleanor of Aquitaine appear ridiculed.
«The Prince of Poison» is the third instalment of the Alix of Wanthwaite series, preceded by Shield of Three Lions and Banners of Gold; the edition is from 2006.
For readers of historical fiction and medieval adventures, especially those who already know Alix of Wanthwaite.
