«The Pig in the Pond» is the children's book by Martin Waddell, illustrated by Jill Barton, published by Walker Books Ltd in paperback (30 pages, in English).
On a sweltering hot day, the pig on Neligan's farm watches enviously as the ducks and geese cool off in the pond. Although it is said that pigs don't swim, the heat eventually drives her to jump into the water. Her splash causes a great commotion on the farm and completely changes the afternoon for all the animals.
Suitable for children aged 2 to 6, especially as a read-aloud for the family.
Martin Waddell is a writer of children's books from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He may be known best for his picture book texts featuring anthropomorphic animals, especially the Little Bear series illustrated by Barbara Firth.
