Peter Amsterdam never intended to become a PI. He blames his accountant for the whole sorry mess. While relaxing in his hot tub in Key West, his life takes an unexpected turn when a blonde walks in, dragging him into a case that will turn his world upside down. What started as a tax dodge becomes a funny and dangerous adventure involving local mobsters and absurd situations in this acclaimed caper novel by Laurence Shames.
This book is a welcome addition to the growing shelf of Florida mysteries, offering a narrative full of humor, eccentric characters, and a deeper look into the hero's inner life. With a lively pace and witty digressions, Shames successfully reinvents detective tropes in a story that masterfully blends intrigue, crime, and comedy.
