«The Moon King» is the children's and young adult novel by Siobhán Parkinson, published by O'Brien Press in paperback (173 pages, in English).
Ricky, a foster child who barely speaks, avoids conflict and retreats into himself. In the Kelly household, a family sometimes close and sometimes distant, he seeks his place. From an old attic chair he adopts the pose of the Moon King, while relationships with the family grow slowly; Ricky wants to leave it all and run away.

Recommended for children and young adult readers aged 9 to 11 interested in stories about childhood and foster families.
