«The Lost Empire of Atlantis» is the historical essay by Gavin Menzies, published by William Morrow Paperbacks in paperback (432 pages, in English).
According to Gavin Menzies, Atlantis was the Minoan civilisation, whose advanced empire stretched from the Mediterranean to America, England and India. Menzies draws on geological, archaeological and DNA evidence to reconstruct the rise and violent destruction of that civilisation, linked to the eruption of Santorini around 1500 BC.
For readers interested in ancient history, archaeology and mysteries such as Atlantis.
Rowan Gavin Paton Menzies was a British submarine lieutenant-commander who authored books claiming that the Chinese sailed to America before Columbus. Historians have rejected Menzies' theories and assertions and have categorised his work as pseudohistory.
