«Tchourk mon chien» is the children's story by Günther Feustel, published by Flammarion in paperback (202 pages, in French).
During a ptarmigan hunt, Matis, a young Sami boy, comes across a pack of dogs fighting a wolverine. One of the dogs impresses him with its courage; the boy takes it home, half dead, and nurses it back to health. Despite the animal's violent nature, a bond of trust and complicity grows between them.
The work belongs to the Castor Poche collection (no. 58) and was originally published in 1979 under the title «Tschurk: eine Tiergeschichte aus Lappland».
It is aimed at child and young adult readers; in the Castor Poche Junior line it is recommended for ages 9-10 and up.
