«Tales from Shakespeare» is the collection of stories adapted from Shakespeare's plays by Charles and Mary Lamb, in paperback, published by Puffin Classics.
In these tales, the Lambs turn some of Shakespeare's most famous plays into prose. Hamlet and Othello keep their dramatic force; As You Like It, its comic tone; Pericles, its adventurous air. The book brings young readers closer to the playwright's language and humanity without losing his wit, and each story can be read as a piece in its own right.
2010 reissue in English, 432 pages, introduction by Judi Dench, number 15 in the Puffin Classics series.
Aimed at young readers aged 9 and up approaching Shakespeare for the first time.

Charles Lamb was an English essayist, poet, and antiquarian, best known for his Essays of Elia and for the children's book Tales from Shakespeare, co-authored with his sister, Mary Lamb (1764–1847).
