«Shakespeare destilado» is the novel by Xesús Constela, published by Editorial Galaxia in paperback (188 pages, in Galician).
A drunken man narrates the life of his friend Willy, locked in a flat where he builds a model of a city that ends up coming to life and imposing itself on reality. The novel is a burlesque metaphor of literature: a monologue that mixes Shakespeare's sonnets and gin and tonics in search of fun and literary freedom.
Novel winner of the García Barros Prize 2008. The novel belongs to the Literaria collection (no. 268) of Editorial Galaxia.
Recommended for readers of contemporary Galician narrative seeking a literary satire with humour and nods to Shakespeare.
