«Sentencias y donaires» is the selection of aphorisms, proverbs and songs by Antonio Machado, published by Editorial Renacimiento in paperback, in Spanish.
The selection includes aphorisms, proverbs and songs by Antonio Machado, many of them linked to the prose of his heteronyms Abel Martín and Juan de Mairena. In these texts, feeling and thought coexist, with popular wisdom as the guiding thread, offering a brief way to approach his poetry and his reflection.
First edition of 2010, edited by Manuel Neila, number 1 of the A la mínima collection. Includes a photograph of Antonio Machado and consists of 152 pages.
For readers of Spanish poetry and aphoristic literature, as well as for those who want to approach Antonio Machado's thought in brief pieces.

Antonio Cipriano José María y Francisco de Santa Ana Machado y Ruiz, simply known as Antonio Machado, was a Spanish poet and one of the leading figures of the Spanish literary movement known as the Generation of '98. His work, initially modernist, evolved towards an intimate form of symbolism with romantic traits. He gradually developed a style characterised by both an engagement with humanity on one side and an almost Taoist contemplation of existence on the other, a synthesis that, according to Machado, echoed the most ancient popular wisdom. In Gerardo Diego's words, Machado "spoke in verse and lived in poetry."
