«Sainetes» is the collection of short plays by Ramón de la Cruz, published by Promoción y Ediciones in hardback (280 pages, in Spanish).
The volume brings together a selection of sainetes, short theatrical pieces with which Ramón de la Cruz humorously depicts scenes of eighteenth-century Spanish life. Popular characters, misunderstandings and lively dialogues sustain comic plots of a satirical tone, where customs and social types become material for entertainment.
Work by the Spanish playwright Ramón de la Cruz (1731-1794), published in 1992 in the Grandes Maestros de la Literatura Española collection.
For readers interested in classical Spanish theatre and eighteenth-century satirical scenes.
