«Roy & Al» is the gay humour comic by Ralf König, published by La Cúpula Ediciones in paperback (64 pages).
The comic portrays the contrast between Roy and Al, two dogs whose owners start dating. Al, a small purebred dog, is refined and somewhat disdainful, while Roy, a large mongrel, has a coarser, more pragmatic character. The pets' coexistence reflects, with irony and spicy humour, the tensions of contemporary gay life.
The comic was published in 2014; the cover includes the warning «Solo para adultos» and the L.A. Comix imprint.
Recommended for an adult audience interested in LGBT humour with animal characters and in couple dynamics from a satirical perspective.
Ralf König is one of the best known and most commercially successful German comic book creators. His books have been translated into many languages. He has resided in Soest, Dortmund and Berlin and now lives in Cologne.
