«Romaníes» is the children's novel by Marta Osorio, published by Anaya in paperback (125 pages, in Spanish).
Loles, a Romani girl of about nine or ten, washes clothes with her grandmother at the park fountain and asks her to tell how she met her grandfather, the origin of their family, and why they resumed the nomadic life. The grandmother evokes the past and brings the reader closer to the traditions and culture of the Gypsy people.
Published in 1997, it is part of the El Duende Verde collection (no. 22), with colour illustrations by Carlos Molinos. It received the National Prize for Children's Literature and the Lazarillo Prize.
Aimed at readers aged 8 to 12, within children's and young adult literature.
