«Romancero para niños» is the poetry anthology prepared by Teresa de Santos, published by Ediciones de la Torre in paperback (125 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together Castilian ballads from oral tradition, short narrative compositions that for centuries conveyed popular stories and themes. Teresa de Santos's selection brings young readers closer to the musicality of the ballad and its influence on later poetry, with illustrations by Carmen Sáez that evoke the medieval atmosphere of the texts.
It belongs to the Alba y mayo, poesía collection (no. 17); this second edition dates from 1994 and is illustrated by Carmen Sáez.
For young readers beginning their journey into poetry and for those wishing to discover the traditional Spanish ballad.
