«Refranes de nuestra vida» is the essay on Spanish proverbs by Pancracio Celdrán Gomariz, published by Editorial Viceversa in paperback (456 pages, in Spanish).
The work compiles and explains hundreds of Castilian proverbs: their origin, evolution and use, with examples like «cada loco con su tema» or «a buenas horas mangas verdes». Celdrán, a specialist in paremiology, thus vindicates the popular wisdom and collective memory that these phrases convey.
First edition published in Barcelona in 2009, within the collection «Viceversa ayer y hoy».
For readers interested in traditional Spanish culture and the origin of popular expressions.
