«Poema del Cid» is the prose edition of the medieval epic poem about Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, with translation and prologue by Francisco López Estrada, published by Castalia Ediciones in paperback (148 pages, in Spanish).
This book offers the content of the medieval codex that narrates the deeds of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, the Cid Campeador, rendered into modern Spanish. The story is divided into three cantares: the Cid's exile by Alfonso VI, his victories in Moorish lands and the conquest of Valencia, and the affront that the Infantes de Carrión inflict on his daughters before the hero obtains justice before the king. The work culminates with the new marriage of the daughters to princes of Navarre and Aragon, which links the Cid to the kings of Spain.
Edition number 15 of the Odres Nuevos collection, published on 10 February 2011.
