«Piel de Armadillo» is Jordi Puntí's short story collection, published by Salamandra in paperback (185 pages, in Spanish).
Ordinary people trapped in a tedious routine: a traveller sits opposite a future crime of passion, a woman fantasises about an affair during a traffic jam, and a successful writer is impersonated by his neighbour. With irony, humour and a laconic prose style, Jordi Puntí explores the line between normality and the desire to escape, leaving the reader to resolve each conflict.
Jordi Puntí's first book, originally published in Catalan as «Pell d'armadillo» (1998) and awarded the Premi Crítica Serra d'Or de Contes i Narracions 1999.
For readers who appreciate the contemporary short story with subtle humour, unremarkable characters and open endings.
Jordi Puntí i Garriga is a Catalan language writer, columnist, and translator.
