«Para morrer» is the poetry collection by José Rui Teixeira published by Quasi Edições in paperback (96 pages, in Portuguese).
The book addresses the relationship between love and death as the two poles of human existence. With a tone that evokes the biblical, it reflects on the fragility of life in the face of the inevitable end and dialogues with absence, especially with the maternal figure as a vanished root. It includes verses such as «Somos todos sonámbulos num mundo de gárgulas».
It moves away from the themes of his first book, «Quando o Verão Acabar», according to the publisher's description.
Recommended for readers of contemporary poetry in Portuguese interested in an introspective lyric about loss and memory.
