«Os Papalagui» is the satire by Tuiavii de Tiavea and Onofre Sabaté, published by Edicións Positivas in paperback (92 pages, in Galician and English).
The book brings together the speeches that the Samoan chief Tuiavii de Tiavea addresses to his people after travelling to Europe. In them he describes with irony and bewilderment the customs of the «papalagui», or white man, and criticises the materialism, haste and estrangement from nature of early 20th-century Western civilisation.
It belongs to the «Popular» collection, number 5. The original title, «Der Papalagi», was published in 1920.
A read for those interested in social criticism, anthropology and philosophy, and in classic satires on Western culture.
