«Old School» is Tobias Wolff's coming-of-age novel, published by Bloomsbury Publishing PLC in paperback (208 pages, in English).
At a prestigious American school, students flaunt literary snobbery and await the quarterly visit of a great writer, who grants a private audience to the winner of a contest. When it is announced that Hemingway will visit the school, rivalry intensifies and the values of honor, loyalty, and friendship falter under pressure.
The work was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and won the California Book Award in the fiction category in 2003.
For readers of literary fiction and boarding-school coming-of-age stories, with echoes of Dead Poets Society and The Catcher in the Rye.
