«Mujeres zulúes: La Cosa en el fuego» is a short story collection by Riana Scheepers, published by Icaria editorial in paperback (112 pages, in Spanish).
This book is Riana Scheepers's homage to her Zulu grandmother Yuba, who taught her to tell stories. The author recreates the ritual of nighttime storytelling by the fire, with phrases like «Kwesukasukela», and portrays a culture where land, ancestors, cattle and children are central values, with women as the backbone of the community.
This book is volume 5 of the «compañía de letras» collection, translated from Afrikaans by Cristina Goikoetxea.
Readers of short fiction and South African literature who want to discover Zulu oral tradition.
