«Morte la bête» is the crime novel by Lotte Hammer and Søren Hammer, published by Actes Sud in paperback (397 pages, in French).
In Copenhagen, two children find five bodies hanged and mutilated in a school gymnasium. Chief Inspector Konrad Simonsen interrupts his holiday to lead the investigation. The victims were paedophiles and, while a businessman launches a campaign against paedophilia, public opinion is divided. Simonsen, who distrusts coincidences, senses a wider plan behind these events.
First instalment of the Inspector Konrad Simonsen series, translated from Danish into French by Andreas Saint-Bonnet.
A read for fans of crime fiction and Scandinavian thrillers, with an uncomfortable ethical backdrop.
