She was born in Fjällbacka on Sweden's west coast on 30 August 1974, the same village in which her famous crime series is set.
She graduated in business administration from the University of Gothenburg and worked as an economist before turning to writing.
Her debut novel, The Ice Princess, was published in 2003 and launched the Erica Falck series.
In 2021 she co-wrote the thriller The Cult with mentalist Henrik Fexeus.
She is also a well-known entrepreneur in Sweden, with business and media ventures beyond her literary work.
