«Minna von Barnhelm» is the five-act comedy by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, published by Philipp Reclam Jun Verlag in paperback (120 pages, in German).
Set against the Seven Years' War, the plot follows Minna, a Saxon heiress, and the Prussian officer Tellheim, fallen into disgrace. Misunderstandings and codes of honour shape an ironic comedy about the social and political conventions of its time, with witty dialogue.
Number 10 in Reclam's Universal-Bibliothek, with annotations and an appendix on the work's origin and reception. The play's original title is «Minna von Barnhelm oder das Soldatenglück».
Suitable for classroom reading or university study of German literature, and for those interested in eighteenth-century classical theatre.
