«Middernachtspel» is the children's picture book by Kvĕta Pacovská and Henk Figee, hardback (44 pages, in Dutch).
During the midnight game, the moon attends a theatre performance as a spectator. The artistic colour illustrations can be partly assembled, so the reader builds some scenes and turns reading into a visual and playful experience.
Originally published in 1993, it falls into the categories of children's and young adult literature and of art and culture.
Recommended for ages 6 and up, especially for children who enjoy visual and hands-on books.
Květa Pacovská was a Czech illustrator and writer. She received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1992 for her "lasting contribution to children's literature".
