«Meetings with the Archangel» is Stephen Mitchell's spiritual humour novel, published by HarperCollins in hardback (256 pages, in English).
The narrator, after publishing a book criticising the contemporary fascination with angels, is surprised by a visit from the archangel Gabriel. From then on, witty dialogues and comic situations unfold that address the nature of God, love and the search for spiritual enlightenment, while the protagonist reflects on how to live and confront evil.
The cover subtitle is «A Comedy of the Spirit». It corresponds to the first edition, published in 1998.
Reading for those interested in spiritual humour and reflection on faith, with echoes of Zen Buddhism.
