«Männer und andere Katastrophen» is the romantic and humorous novel by Kerstin Gier, published by Lübbe in paperback (320 pages, in German).
Judith, 26, is fed up with her boyfriend, her studies and her office job; the men she consoles herself with don't help. Her friends Susanna, Katja and Bille drag along similar problems: money versus principles, partner lies and a conceited man. The novel follows their romantic disasters with agile humour to an unexpected ending.
First novel in the Judith Raabe series, which consists of two books. The edition was originally published in 1996.
For those seeking a light romantic comedy about friendship and relationship troubles; also useful for practising German.
Kerstin Gier is a German author of novels for adults and young adults. Her popular young adult novel Rubinrot and its two sequels – a series about time travel – as well as her Silber trilogy were translated into English by Anthea Bell.
