«Mágico verano» is the children's and young adult novel by Leonor Mercado, published by Ediciones Gaviota in hardback (168 pages, in Spanish).
Javier spends his holidays by the sea and, in the house where he stays, a mystery triggers an adventure full of intrigue that he recounts by letter to his friend Celes. The story combines the epistolary style with traditional narration, in a summer that could be the last with something magical for a protagonist on the brink of adolescence.
Second edition published in 1989 within the Trébol collection, with illustrations by Violeta de Marte.
Recommended for readers aged 10 to 12, especially those who enjoy mystery stories and protagonists in transition to adolescence.
