«L'última trobada» is the novel by Sándor Márai, published in 1999 by Editorial Empúries in paperback (176 pages, in Catalan).
Two old friends who haven't seen each other in a long time meet again for one last conversation. The talk brings to light grudges, loyalties and silences, and the novel becomes a meditation on friendship, betrayal and the passage of time.
The sixth edition, translated from Hungarian by Antoni Garcia Santiago, appeared in the Narrativa collection (number 118); the original title is «A gyertyák csonkig égnek».
For readers of fiction who prefer a short novel in Catalan about reunion, memory and human relationships.
Sándor Márai was a Hungarian writer, poet, and journalist.
