«Los Viracochas» is the historical novel by Edward Rosset, published by Carolina Elvira Rosset Gómez in paperback (491 pages, in Spanish).
The novel narrates the arrival of Francisco Pizarro in Peru and the encounter with the Inca Atahualpa, who believes he sees in those men descendants of the god Viracocha. Far from heroic deeds, it shows unjust executions, greed, cruelty, betrayals and civil wars, denouncing the brutality of the conquest over the vanquished.
First edition in 2005. Subtitle: «no eran dioses ni héroes, tan sólo hombres crueles y codiciosos». Part of the Personajes Históricos series.
For readers of historical fiction interested in the conquest of Peru and in a critical view far from heroic narratives.
