Los surcos del azar is a graphic novel by Paco Roca that tells the story of La Nueve, a company of Spanish Republicans who were part of General Leclerc's second armored division and were the first to enter Paris to liberate it from Nazi occupation. Through the memories of Miguel Ruiz, a Spanish Republican exiled in France, Roca reconstructs this forgotten story about the Spanish contribution in World War II. Most of the men who made up La Nueve were under 20 years old when they first took up arms in 1936 to defend the Spanish Republic. The tanks bore names such as 'Madrid', 'Don Quixote', 'Guadalajara', 'Ebro' or 'Guernica'.

Francisco Martínez Roca aka Paco Roca is a Spanish strip cartoonist with experience in graphic novels and advertisement illustrations.
