«L'habitació grisa» is Mònica Batet's first novel, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (124 pages, in Catalan).
In Mir, a town with a bookshop where two men read for three hours daily, a girl loves the rain and another detests the piano. In a room there are wellington boots, a suitcase and a stopped clock. A man writes poems to escape; the woman who reads them longs to know the colour of his eyes, and a book bears his name while the grey walls hide secrets.
The novel won the XXV Premi Just M. Casero and belongs to the Empúries Narrativa collection, number 274.
