«L'esquelet de la balena» is the young adult novel by David Cirici, published by Estrella Polar in paperback (168 pages, in Catalan).
In a future society, 112 boys live isolated in a boarding school: programmed routine, hologram teachers and the phone as their only outside contact. Fortuitous events reveal the school's mechanisms to them and put them in touch with the girls from another centre; friendship and budding love clash with a hostile and brutal adult world.
Winner of the 1986 Ramon Muntaner Prize for young adult literature, it is part of the Vostok collection and includes illustrations by Begoña Chezz.
Recommended reading for young people aged 12 and up.
