«Les outils de nos ancêtres» is a history book by Jean-Noël Mouret, published in 1994 by France Loisirs in hardback (176 pages, in French).
It brings together more than 500 tools from the private collection of Georges and Nicole Gaubert and, through them, revives the gestures of rural French trades: coopers, comb-makers, pit-sawyers, file-cutters, spinners and pedlars. Each tool points to a centuries-old know-how and to a craftsman's world that oblivion had erased.
The subtitle of the work is «collection particulière de Georges et Nicole Gaubert»; ISBN-10: 2724279956.
For readers interested in rural history, artisanal trades and collecting antique tools.
