«L’éléphant» is a short story by Marcel Aymé in the series 'Un conte bleu du chat perché', in a paperback edition from Gallimard Jeunesse (64 pages, French).
While it rains without stopping, Delphine and Marinette play Noah's Ark and gather all the farm animals. Only an elephant is missing; the little hen offers to play that role and ends up turned into a real elephant. When the parents return, the girls will have to use all their ingenuity to hide the enormous animal.
Published in 1999, this edition includes illustrations by Claudine and Roland Sabatier.
Aimed at children and young readers; the brevity and illustrations make reading easier.
