«Le recensement des intellos de gauche» is the dystopian novel by Giacomo Papi, published by Grasset in paperback (234 pages, in French).
In a distorted but recognisable Italy, intelligence has become suspect. After the murder of a professor who quoted Spinoza on television, the government creates a register of intellectuals and radical chic. Olivia, the academic's daughter, returns from London to investigate her father's death and discovers a country given over to witch-hunting.
Originally published in Italian as «Il censimento dei radical chic» in 2019, this French edition appeared in May 2021.
For readers of political satire and dystopias with humour, interested in contemporary Italian literature.
