«Le Petit Nicolas: Le Ballon» is a children's book by Jean-Jacques Sempé and René Goscinny, published by Gallimard in paperback (160 pages, in French).
Little Nicholas and his friends have amusing adventures: eating Easter eggs until they're stuffed, bursting a balloon in front of the neighbour, or wearing a jumper with ducks and putting up with teasing in class. Despite the small upsets, the Great Friends' Circus guarantees laughter and mischief.
It belongs to the Histoires Inédites du Petit Nicolas series. The stories are illustrated by Jean-Jacques Sempé.
Recommended for readers aged 8 to 10.
Jean-Jacques Sempé, usually known as Sempé, was a French cartoonist. He is known for the series of children's books he created with René Goscinny, Le Petit Nicolas, and also for his poster-like illustrations, usually drawn from a distant or high viewpoint depicting detailed countrysides or cities. For decades, he created covers for The New Yorker.
