«Le boulevard des illusions» is the novel by Guy des Cars, published by Éditions J'ai lu in paperback (218 pages, in French).
The novel delves into the world of the circus and shows its strangest side: that of the «monsters» of the ring, grotesque and moving. A young man kidnaps a woman without legs, a ventriloquist courts a deaf-mute extra, and a bearded woman writes her memoirs, in a tale that plays with the boundary between fantasy and reality.
The 1984 paperback edition bears the number 1710 of J'ai Lu, with illustration by Jean Marcil and complete text.
For readers of French fiction and circus stories that combine the grotesque and the emotive.
Guy Augustin Marie Jean de la Pérusse des Cars was a best-selling French author of popular novels.
