«Las vulnerabilidades» is the psychological suspense novel by Elvira Sastre, published by Seix Barral in paperback (352 pages, in Spanish).
The narrator, Elvira, receives a message on a social network from a young woman named Sara who claims to have suffered abuse and to be in a desperate situation. Moved by empathy, Elvira offers her help and opens the doors of her intimacy, but Sara's presence becomes increasingly suffocating. The novel explores the power and dependency relationship between two wounded women and the consequences of an apparently altruistic act, in a plot inspired by a real episode experienced by the author.
It belongs to the Biblioteca Breve collection of the publisher. It is Elvira Sastre's second novel, whose first novel, «Días sin ti», won the Premio Biblioteca Breve in 2019. The work is inspired by a real episode experienced by the author.
