La Soupe aux Choux is a novel written by René Fallet, published in 1980. The story follows two old peasants, Cicisse Chérasse and Glaude Ratinier, who live modestly in a declining Bourbonnais village. One night, an alien lands in Glaude's field, and he calls him "la Denrée". La Denrée lives on an austere asteroid where the concept of the superfluous is unknown. The novel explores themes of friendship, simplicity, and the appreciation of the simple pleasures of life.
